Akomplice x Sneaker Freaker

Our latest collaborative effort comes in conjunction with heralded European sneaker publication, Sneaker Freaker Germany. With Frank 151 and DIME projects under our belt, Sneaker Freaker marks our third magazine based collaborative incarnation. The finished product comes in the form of a co-branded t-shirt that pays homage to some of the most feted kicks in history, as well as a pair of one of a kind shoelaces. Both the text on the tee and shoelaces make use of our hyperlight technology that changes color when exposed to sunlight. The thematic mainstay of the collaboration is that taste lies in the tongue of the beholder, and one can rest assured that the project will suit the taste of both our fans alike. Only the first 12 orders in the US and first 12 orders in Europe will receive the miniature red shoebox, while total production will still be extremely limited to a run of just 50 units in the US, and 50 in Europe! The project will be available May 24th 4:00 pm (PST) at our online store, flagship in Santa Barbara, and the Sneaker Freaker Germany web-store.

Impromptu Photo Shoot In Colombia

I’m down here in Medellin Colombia when all of a sudden I got an email from Murder Matt, saying “We need to knock out a poster for our Savoy Summer Release party asap!” It’s 6pm and he says they want it by the morning, so my homies from ClownRMX and I hit the streets to find a hot Colombian shorty to be the cover girl for the poster. We found a beautiful college student named Nina and when asked to model, she replied “Why did you pic me? I’m not a model. There are so many girls in Medellin way hotter then me.” We assured her she was what we were looking for and the shoot went down 3 hours later at her apartment. The lighting wasn’t great and we only had our iPhones, but we made due with what we had and still came out with some cool shots. I had Albert (1/2 of ClownRMX) choose a couple of his favorite photos. AK Down South

Mike Akomplice has been fulfilling his dream to visit Brazil and is now in Fortaleza, a burgeoning city on the northern coast. He’ll be making his way down south towards Sao Paolo and Florianopolis over the next couple of weeks. From the pics I’ve been seeing and the stories I’ve been hearing, Brazil has been treating Mike very well indeed! Be sure to follow his trip progress through the AK Blog and on Instagram (@mikeakomplice) as he gives us a glance of life in Brazil.

Patrick Liberty has been stationed in Cartagena, Colombia, setting up a remote office near the beach, swimming every day, eating Papayas and enjoying the relaxed lifestyle of Columbia. Last Saturday he took a trip to Rincon Del Sur, a small, pristine beach town. In order to get to Rincon, Patrick had to drive through the interior of Columbia, which apart from the bumpy, unkept “highway”, sounded like a fantastic experience. Long stretches of nature and open road were accented with small “rest areas” where children played around the car and you could buy fresh mangoes and fruit. Upon arriving to Rincon Del Sur, Patrick was pleasantly surprised to find no paved roads (only sand), and a super mellow, relaxed atmosphere. Everybody knew everybody, and on this particular day they were celebrating Global Dance Day, so Patrick was able to watch all the festivities while enjoying the natural beauty of one of the world’s most pristine beaches. Stone Cold Killing Interns: Tiffany’s actual too nice to kill, but Jin might.

A few weeks ago we narrowed our search results down to 2 candidates, Jin and Tiffany, both are in their final years at UCSB, both have marketing backgrounds, and both are straight murder. Since we couldn’t decide between the two, we split the internship in half and chose both. We’d like to intro these two to the world, and proud to say we found them before Nike. They’ll now be signing their work so you can follow their progression and direction of passion.

Victory against Fracking

We (all the heads from the woods of CO & Akomplice) feel like The Bulls after they won the championship in ’91!

The BLM (Bureau of Land Management) just issued a report stating they are to hold back the leasing of 30,000 acres of land to potential gas/ oil company buyers for fracking. The acres of public land, all of which are surrounding Akomplice’s home town of Paonia Colorado, will be protected until further research/ analysis is conducted. This is a huge victory, in the campaign against fracking, Akomplice looked at this as one of the most important campaigns thus far for 2012. If you didn’t see my post from a few weeks back check it here, you can check Patrick and I on CBS (Western Slope Colorado) talking about the movement against fracking as well as the letters to BLM, and a rally I took part in during Winter X-Games 2012. The BLM states that the hold is based on public input, which is amazing to actually see the government react in favor of the public rather than the big money oil companies. Next we’re spreading our reach beyond the North Fork Valley by doing a collaboration project with Josh Fox’s Academy Award nominated film, Gasland, which will donate all profits towards campaigns aiming to prevent Fracking from entering everyone else’s back yard. If you haven’t seen Gasland please watch it. Join the movement!
