Spring 2012 Look Book Part 2: Black Market

March 22nd, 2012

Sonia wears Sex Panther.

After we wrapped up with Conveyor, we grabbed a quick bite with a long time friend, and then it was off to West LA to visit Black Market.  We caught up with Sonia and Spencer, both long time employees.  Check out the photos and the Q&A we did with both of them.

Akomplice: How long have you worked here?
Sonia: 2 years

Akomplice: Strangest customer in that time?
Sonia: Bai Ling Chinese model actress

Akomplice: Why?
Sonia: Just really weird. Whenever I ask her if she needs help she says she has never been to the store, but she comes in all the time.  Maybe all the prescriptions she’s on?

Akomplice: Who is your favorite celeb who shops here?
Sonia: Matt Groening

Akomplice: Who are some of the other celebs who shop here?
Sonia: Tom Hanks, Colin Hanks (Tom Hanks son), David Beckham, Jamie Lee, David Cho, and Kreayshawn

Spencer wears The Fall 2

Akomplice: How long have you worked for Black Market?

Spencer: 11 years

Akomplice: What was your craziest day on the job in those 11 years?

Spencer: Dude stole from our store, I chased him down the street and knocked him out cold.  Still dealing with court over that.

Akomplice: Favorite Akomplice tee?

Spencer: Crack tee with Dave Chapplle

Spring 2012 Look Book Part 1: Conveyor @ Fred Segal

March 21st, 2012

I finally made it to LA after safely escaping a snow storm in Aspen.  Exhausted from my flight, I quickly hit the Radisson for a nights sleep.  The next day Blake picked me up and we were off to Conveyor @ Fred Segal to start our surprise look book that includes Spring 1 and 2 deliveries.  Our idea was to show up at Akomplice retailers and have whoever was working at the store be in the photos, whether it be the owner or store family.  I had set a meeting with Alex from Conveyor to show him our Fall line, but he wasn’t expecting anything else.  I showed up and the meeting went great.  Alex is a cool, laid back dude that’s on his style P’s and Q’s.  He was the first to be presented with the concept for the photo look book, and he thought it was a great idea.  He put together a clean outfit, then the camera started flashing.  You can see the chambray jacket in these photos.

Then Conveyors other employee, Ricky, stopped by and we added him into the shoot.  You can see him rocking the Voyager vest, super clean and reversible. Go to Conveyor to get Spring 1 now and Spring 2 will arrive in the next three weeks.  Check back tomorrow for our next stop at Black Market.  See more pictures of the look book after the jump.

Raekwon Photoshoot Party

March 20th, 2012

Last week during SXSW Akomplice through the Raekwon X Akomplice photoshoot party, hosted by our retailer Status. The crowd outside was crazy, inside was dope and relxed as it was very limited to the number of people let in. It’s been cool working with Rae and his camp, his team’s made of brothers, which I can relate to having started Akomplice with my brother Patrick. Rae, his brothers Don P and Kay, Patrick on the right and me. More shots soon.  -Mike

Akomplice Spring 2012 Lookbook

March 16th, 2012

Our Spring 2012 lookbook marks 7 and a half years in the game. To commemorate we decided to showcase some of the people and stores that helped make Akomplice what it is today, and who really represent the culture we’ve been a part of. For this installment we narrowed it down to just the heads of Los Angeles. Big up to our long time retailers and friends; Backside, Conveyor @ Fred Segal, X-Large, Brooklyn Projects, and Black Market. All content photos were shot by Akomplice’s own Blake Peterson, cover photo by Matt Alonzo. See the entire photo journey on highsnobiety.com/Akomplice. Check back for the in depth story and more photos.  -Mike Orlando
