Congratulations to Crossword Puzzle wizard, Matthew Nordman! Matt was the first person to answer all of the questions on the AK x Shorty’s Skateboards Crossword Puzzle that we dropped last week as a part of our collaboration. Matt won a $500 + prize pack made up of all Shorty’s and Akomplice gear. He’s gonna be set on wax and tees for a while now. Thanks Matt for proving your dedication to the brands and coming through with all the correct answers!
Shorty’s was one of the hot innovative brands of my time. Growing up skating in a small town, everything was about skating, school then skate, skate at breaks, travel to find new spots, watch skate videos, make our own. Back when skate shops were far a few between I’d have my dad drive an hour just to find a real one, one who carried brands like Alien Workshop and Shorty’s. My history with early skating made It a real honor to meet and work with Tony. The t-shirt we designed for the collab is a crossword puzzle, but in tradition of Shorty’s we used our hyperlight ink so when you go outside into the sunlight, the words “Fuck You” appear into one of the answers of the puzzle, playing off the tee that spelled Fuck You when you held the shirt together a certain way. Along with the shirt also comes an exclusive co-branded sharpie. To add another piece, we decided to setup a contest. So here it is, just launching now, and no winner yet. the first person to email info@akomplice-clothing.com the correct answers to the crossword will win $500 worth of Akomplice/Shorty’s product. Rather than staged and meticulously styled, the Akomplice Fall 2013 lookbook takes a different approach, giving a natural look at each artist’s style with palpable personality captured in each image. The artists chose to don Akomplice staples including 5 panel hats, jackets, hoodies, patterned pants and vintage inspired jerseys from our fall collection. The end result is a set of images that naturally blends into the background of Denver rather than appearing as a set of branded advertisements. Checkout the entire lookbook after the jump.
